ABOUT US
La Horrox is a UK based performer, visual artist, sound artist and composer, her work encompassing projects across music, dance and installation. She realises her compositions through visual performance, music and sound conjured directly and indirectly through voice, body, object kinesthesis and electronics. Her work binds characters and objets d’art in neoteric myth, sculpted costume and ‘props’ are sonified, given voice, creating atmosphere, ubiquitous noise and music.
Trained in Fashion Design and as a Sound Technician, La Horrox completed a Contemporary Digital Performance MA at Brunel in 2012. Her commissioned works include sculptures and soundtracks for short films, dance and performance, a geolocative opera walk, and multi-channel sound installations in nature.
La Horrox toured for seven years with Wet Sounds, performing voice and electronic music with Joel Cahen, and since 2013, sings with Candy Shop, an opera by sound artist Lina Lapelyte, in collaboration with seven voice artists and/or musicians. Her work has been presented by the Barbican Centre, Arnolfini, Spill London, Glasgow Film Festival, Fierce Birmingham and Soundlands. She is a vocalist and performer with CandyShop, Wet Sounds London, and Moon Seer performing at international venues such as at Kunsthalle Praha, Queen Elizabeth Hall London, Centro de Arte Dos De Mayo Madrid, Borealis Festival Norway, Fiac! Paris, Glasgow Film Festival and SuperSonic Manchester.
